Making a Tenancy Tribunal Application Online
Welcome to the Tenancy Tribunal online application service.
You can make an application to the Tenancy Tribunal for help to resolve a dispute with a tenant or landlord,
if you are unable to resolve your problem by yourselves. Submitting an application starts the legal process
for dispute resolution. You will then be offered mediation – where trained mediators from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment work with you to help settle the dispute.

What should you do first?
Communicate with your landlord or tenant and try to resolve the dispute together. There are a range of things
that you should do before you make an application to the Tenancy Tribunal. For more information see

What do you need to apply online?
To complete an online application to the Tenancy Tribunal, you need to have:
- a working email address
- a valid credit card – VISA or MasterCard only
- your Tenancy Agreement
- your Bond number (if you have lodged a bond)
- Adobe Reader installed on your computer. You can download the latest version for free here.
How does the online application work?
It's a four step process:
- Register to apply for the first time
- Log in
- Fill in the application form
- Pay the $20.44 application fee online by credit card and submit the application.
It will take approximately 20 – 30 minutes to complete your online application. You can do this all at once, but if you need more time the system will save
your application for up to 7 calendar days.
We will not begin processing your application until the application fee has been paid and the application form submitted.
